The Investigations Division consists of two full-time postions: a Person/Property Crimes Detective and a Narcotics Detective. The Detectives are under the direct supervision of the Chief of Police.
Person/Property Crimes Detective is responsible for investigating complex crimes that often require several hours, days, weeks even months to finish. These cases include homicides, robberies, sexual assaults, internet crimes, serious assaults, identity theft, criminal racketeering, burglaries and any other crime that may require time-intensive investigation. Detectives work closely with patrol, other agencies, the District Attorney's Office and the community
Narcotics Detective is responsible for the investigation of drug related cases. These cases often include the investigation of Manufacturing and Delivery of drugs such as Methamphetamine, Marijuana, Cocaine, and prescription medication. The Narcotics Detective works closely with other members of the Linn County Drug Task Force as well as the Drug Enforcement Administration.
