The library was established in 1942 and it has been serving the community on the corner of 13th and Kalmia Street since 1969.
Designated a small rural library, funding has always been tight. Although it has been a rewarding challenge to provide more with less, this would not be possible without the Friends of the Library and our library-loving volunteers!

Linn Libraries Consortium
The Sweet Home Public Library participates in the Linn Libraries Consortium. Our motto is "sharing knowledge, resources, and expertise." Being a part of the Linn Libraries Consortium allows us to make smarter use of our collection, saving taxpayer money and providing an increased level of service. Sweet Home residents have access to over 5 times as many titles. The Consortium provides:
- A courier service between select Linn Libraries, so that cardholders can request items from across the county and pick them up at the own local library.
- A shared catalog between all of our libraries. Using this catalog, you can find items from libraries across the county with a single-click.
