This is a perfect opportunity for you to ask questions of the police officers and department staff.
You will learn more about:

You will have an opportunity to see what it takes to become a police officer – both physically and mentally.
You will see what additional continuing training is required of the officers.
You will learn what officers have to continually do to keep alert in order to keep our community a safer place to live.
During the nine weeks of the academy, various personnel in the Sweet Home Police Department will cover a variety of subjects ranging from basic law enforcement to discussions and demonstrations of specialized units within Police Department. Through this experience, you will gain valuable knowledge of the Sweet Home Police Department’s important role in the community.
The Citizen's Police Academy is open to residents over the age of 18 who live or work in within the Sweet Home School District area. The Citizen's Academy is a 8 week course consisting of one 3 hour evening class per week.
There is an application process that includes a complete criminal background check. Applications will be held over and given priority for the next available class, should the current class be full.
